A Letter of Bhagavan

Sri Ramakrishna Saranam
Guwahati
27/09/1988

Dear Brother,
I received your letter. The subject you wanted to know about is tough. Without meditation, spiritual austerity, proper perception and knowledge of the scriptures, spirituality cannot be understood. There is no end of perception of God.
This body is the because of the desires of the earlier lives. This body moves with the law of nature. So, till you remain within this body, you have to follow its rules. The wise enjoy by knowing this, the ignorant by not knowing- this is the only difference. Thakur Sri Ramakrishna, Vivekananda, Sankaracharyya and Ramana Maharshi suffered from diseases. They suffered a lot but they were not deluded.
The tendency of self imposed suffering is greater than the actual suffering in this world. The wise remain prepared for death. Know that it is impossible to have the ultimate knowledge of the spiritual world. So, there is a difference in the depth of knowledge.
Whatever you do, do with sincerity. But, to understand the events of this whole day you have to think about yourself.
There is no truth without God. If ever you realize this fact by God's mercy, you will become the king. Or, you will have to be the slave of others for the rest of your life. Know my love- Bhagavan.
